Don Harps on Vocational Studies to Check Unemployment in Nigeria

The Provost of Federal College of Education, FCE, Osiele, Abeokuta, Dr Ayodele Adetayo Ajayi has said that the Institution will strongly follow the federal government’s directives of giving priority to students of vocational studies in its admission policy.
Dr Ajayi said this during the matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted regular students for the 2016/2017 academic session.

The matriculation ceremony which was held at the School premise was chaired by the Institution Provost Dr Ajayi where he said that the years admission highly favoured the Vocational students due to the government determination of fighting unemployment among the youths.
His words, ” This year alone, we have a total number of 2209 regular NCE students with School of Arts and Social Science 327, School of Education 286 School of Languages, 497, School of Science, 499 and School of Vocational Education, 800″

While calling on the newly admitted Students to be of good behaviour and of high moral standard, Dr Ajayi said the Institution will ensure that they enjoy their stay while in the campus
He said the Institution decided not to conduct any post UTME for students because it is exploitative, ridiculous and dictatorial said in spite of that, the school will not reduce the standard it is known for

He said the School support the various restructuring of admission process being carried out by JAMB in the admission of Students into tertiary Institution, hence the abrogation of post UTME
“Many of you here today are being admitted to the School on merit, so I will advice you to face your studies squarely because that is the main reason you are here”
