Devil made me to kill my former wife's husband – killer suspect As Ogun police parades 42 suspected criminals




A 43- year old man, Adebisi Akinrinmola who killed his former wife’s husband, Ashimiyu Ademola on Tuesday at Ajebo village, Ijebu-Igbo area of Ogun State has said that the devil prompted him to commit the murder.

He spoke when he was paraded among other 42 criminals yesterday by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Illiyasu at the Police Command’s headquarters, Eleweran-Abeokuta. Akinrinmola, a cocoa farmer who hails from Ode-Oka in Ondo State told journalists that he married his former wife for nine years but the union produced no children, explaining that he killed the deceased “because he chased me with cutlass when we were quarrelling and I have to defend myself”. His words: “When we were quarreling, he squeezed my cloth at my neck and I managed to escape from him, he now started chasing me with a cutlass so I ran inside my house to take the gun and shot him. It is the work of the devil”.”The government should have mercy on me by not sentencing me to death but send me to jail,” he pleaded. Among those paraded were a five-member robbery gang from Chad and Niger Republics who the Commissioner said confessed to have robbed a Chief Magistrate, Mrs Sofowora Oriyomi in Abeokuta and one Pastor Abatan of the Redeemed Christian Church of God at Idi-Aba area of Abeokuta.The suspects were Abdullahi Hassan, Memud Aruna, Ismaila Abba, Ahmed Yusuf and Abbas
Garba. The items recovered from them were three pump action guns, five live catridges, one and two jack knives.
Also paraded were armed robbers, kidnappers, cultists and car Snatchers.
A 27- year old man, Emmanuel Azuquo who impersonated Economic for Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and Nigeria Brewery Staff to dupe on suspecting victims was one of the suspects paraded.
