Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has urged citizens of the State to support the National Population Commission (NPC) in its pre-census exercise towards achieving a successful enumeration and demarcation of houses that would ensure proper census.
Governor Amosun gave the advice while flagging off the enumeration and demarcation exercise of the National Population Commission for Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area.
Represented by his Deputy, Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Onanuga, Amosun said the importance of proper enumeration and demarcation of houses could not be over emphasised, as it would help to facilitate accurate population figure needed by government for proper planning and development.
While commending the Commission for considering it necessary to know the actual figure of houses and areas ahead of the census, the governor stressed the need for residents in each Local Government Area and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to cooperate with the officials, by rendering the needed assistance for the exercise to succeed.
Amosun warned them against violence and other social vices that could mar the exercise, adding that the enumeration and demarcation were not real census, but rather a pre-census exercise needed for a successful National census.
In her contribution, the Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, Mrs. Oluseyi Aderinokun, implored traditional and political leaders to contribute to the success of the exercise.
