In a bid to eliminate Malaria in Ogun State, the State Ministry of Health in collaboration with development partners had embarked on sensitization outreach tagged, ‘’End Malaria for Good! What Is Your Role’’, at the Oba Odeleye Park, Sokori, Abeokuta.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye said the State was determined to eliminate the prevalence of the disease across the state before the set date of 2020, calling on stakeholders to join in the campaign against malaria towards promoting malaria-free society.
‘’It is important to have all stakeholders to join the State government in the fight against malaria, as government cannot do it alone’’ he said.
Ipaye said capacity building programmes on malaria for all relevant health practitioners would continue as well regular monitoring to ensure health standards.
Earlier in his remarks, One of the development partners, the Managing Director Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria, Mr. Nicolas Terraz thanked the State government for allowing for a synergy between them and government towards eradicating the disease in the State.
‘’We are excited to partner with Ogun State in eliminating malaria, we trust that with the cooperation of every one we can control and prevent this scourge in our ultimate battles to end malaria for good’’. He said.
Mrs Bolanle Akanni, one of the beneficiaries thanked the State government for its continued support in providing efficient and affordable health care delivery for people of the State.
Highlights of the event was a sensitization walk led by the wife of the Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Olufunso Amosun with staff of the Ministry, partners and sponsors, as well as distribution of Long Lasting Insecticides Treated Nets, Malaria Test Kits and anti-malaria drugs while test was conducted for members of the public.
