Teachers Registration is to Encourage Professionalism-Dr Ajayi

The Provost of Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Dr Adetayo Ajayi has called on teachers to urgently take advantage of the ongoing process of registration and licensing of teachers so as to ensure professionalism and quality service delivery.

Dr Ajayi who spoke in Abeokuta while receiving the Executives of the Federated Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, opined that teachers who have yet to get certification may be regarded as cheaters and quacks.
He reiterated that the license will help to facilitate the development of education as well as promote high standards of teaching and learning.
Stressing that teachers without professional certificates are quacks, he noted that they were not fit to be in the classrooms.
Dr Ajayi advised all the Teachers in the Country to take advantage of the programme, urging them to internalize the fundamentals of teacher education.
He said, “Let me assure you that the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, will continue to collaborate with the noble objective in the successful transformation of teaching profession.”
“The main objective is to get authentic, reliable and accurate data of teachers for the development of ‘Teachers Information System (TIS)”.
Speaking on the impacts of the Treasury Single Account to tertiary institutions of learning, Dr Ajayi said the programme is a good stead to check excesses, but urge government to look into the challenges facing the policy.
“I think there seems to be improvement now unlike when the policy was first introduced, but I will advice that the institutions of learning need to be treated differently based on its peculiarities”.
