13,000 Beneficiaries Now For ”ARAYA” In Ogun

No fewer than 13,000 pregnant women and children (0-5yrs) have been captured as beneficiaries in the free health care services provided under the Ogun State Community Based Health Insurance Scheme (CBHIS) tagged “Araya”.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye disclosed this during a sensitization exercise in Ado/Odo Ota Local Government Area of the State,  saying the exercise was to advance enlightenment campaign on the scheme towards capturing more pregnant women and children especially the indigent in the society.

Ipaye, who noted that the campaign would go round the three Senatorial Districts of the State, affirmed that the aim of the ministry was to ensure that at least 3,000 participants were enlisted for the scheme in each of the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.

He said ‘’As I’m speaking to you now, 13,000 persons have so far benefitted from the scheme, as we also seek to capture at  least 3,000 persons per Local Government Area across the State”.

The Commissioner hinted that an approximated 830 women die annually of complications arising from pregnancy and childbirth which increases the rate of maternal mortality in rural areas, noting that the Araya Scheme was aimed at checkmating the abnormalities.

“Araya Health Insurance Scheme is for the under privileged pregnant women and children under age five in Ogun State and is targeted to save One Million lives” the Commissioner said.
