Following the attack on supporters of Seyi Makinde, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Oyo state by those alleged to be the political thugs of Bayo Adelabu, the All Progressives Congress, APC; a group known as Oke Odo Elite Club has urged Bayo Adelabu to desist from actions capable of tarnishing and destroying the good legacies left behind by his grandfather, Adegoke Adelabu Penkelemesi.
The group in a press release signed by Demola Hazeez frowned at the attack on supporters of PDP in Oke Oluokun area, Ibadan South East local government in which one person was shot and another stabbed by
those believed to be political thugs of Bayo Adelabu.
“Oke Odo Elite Club is not a political group and has no affiliation to any political party; we are particularly interested in the peace of our community. That is why we are appealing to Bayo Adelabu not to destroy the legacies of late Chief Adegoke Adelabu by sponsoring thugs to attack supporters of other parties.”
The Group added: “We have conducted our investigation and it revealed that one Hafeez Onirin a.k.a Olohunwa, Kunle Elewedu and others acting
under the order of Wasiu Adeyemo Kareem, Chairman of APC in ward 9, Ibadan South East unleashed mayhem on our peaceful community last week. They shot on innocent members of the community and also stabbed
one Saheed Adesola who is currently battling for his life at University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.”
Speaking further, the group warned Bayo Adelabu and other politicians in the area not to turn the area into ‘war zone’ as Oke Odo has always being peaceful.
“Late Chief Adegoke Adelabu was a man of peace who supported attack on opponents while alive. We expect Bayo Adelabu to equally emulate his
grandfather and desist from sponsoring political thugs.”
