Members of the legally elected Executive of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council have taken the defense of their mandate freely given by members of the union to court as defeated team, in connivance with their godfathers are engaging in all fraudullent means to annul it.
The Soji Amosu led Executive was elected on March 29, 2019 in the most free and fair election in the history of the union as all members of the recognized 11 chapels of the Ogun State Council freely and massively voted for them as the preferred candidates to steer the ship of the council.
The people who were claiming to be disenfranchised are members of hitherto unknown Consolidated chapel attempted to be smuggled in on the day of the election by the immediate past Chairman of the union, Wole Shokunbi who was bent on imposing his preferred candidate on the council as his third term agendum.
This so called chapel which comprised some strange names and people never existed or participated at any previous elections of the union.
The idea of consolidated chapel was concocted by Shokunbi and his cohorts after he had made several failed attempts to disqualify Comrade Soji Amosu and many of his admirers and sympathisers.
Shokunbi’s desperation and evil machinations included falsification of the authentic membership list of the union generated by the Screaming Committee constituted by the National Office; exobitant fees for nomination form as a way to deny and frustrate the opposition teams, and incalculable frivolous and dangerous petitions against all his competitors.
The known and recognized Chapels of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council are: State Information, Federal Information, Federated, Correspondents, OGBC, OGTV, Paramount FM, NTA, LOGIC, NOA and Newsdirect.
Chairman of the Council, Comrade Soji Amosu, Kunle Olayeni vice-Chairman ; Ayokunle Ewuoso ,Secretary ; Abiodun Taiwo ,Assistant secretary and a member of the union Henry Ojoye have dragged the national leadership of the union as well as Kayode Taiwo, Segun Lawole, Adewole Dosunmu , Ayo Obadimu and Dele Ayodo to the court with the prayers to stop the annulment and inauguration of a Caretaker Committee.
At the court proceeding on Monday May 13, 2019 ,the presiding judge, Justice Muhammad Abubakar ordered that all the respondents should be served the court originating summon and the motion on notice before May 20, the adjourned date .
Counsel to the applicants, Deji Eniseyin told the court that he was able to serve only four out of the 15 respondents in the suit number FHC/AB/CS/50/19.
Eniseyin however, applied for adjournment so as to serve others in the suit .
