STUDENTS TASKED ON PATRIOTISM

Students have been implored to be patriotic and put the interest of the nation first to be able to contribute their quota to the growth and development of their communities in the nearest future.

The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle gave this charge at a quiz competition organized by Ilaro Youth Council for Secondary Schools in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the State.

Represented by the Wife of the former Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Chief (Mrs) Yemisi Oloyo, the Monarch advised the students to be agents of positive change in their various communities, which he said, would enhance rapid development of the State and the country.

He also enjoined parents, guardians and leaders in the country to live exemplary life and teach the young ones on the right path.

Speaking on the theme, “Community Development: Young Minds as Agents of Change”, the Dean, School of Management Studies, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Dr Mukail Akinde pointed out that young people with quality education are assets that would drive the economy and promote a sustainable development.

Represented by the Head of the Department, Business Administration, Dr Yusuf Bako, Akinde advised the students to shun social vices that could jeopardize their ambition.

“The current situation of our great Country Nigeria requires an urgent implementation of positive change in all facets so as to foster the development and growth of this country. Youth should therefore shun social and moral vices to discover their true potential” he charged.

Earlier in his welcome address, the President of Ilaro Youth Council, Mr Philip Olakanmi explained that the programme was organised to educate the youths on their roles and impacts to the development of the country.

Olakanmi commended the current administration for renovating some public primary and secondary schools across the state, pleading for upgrading of school libraries to enrich students’ knowledge and aid their academic performances
