Ekiti State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi has described
good management of finance and proper use of fund as a major step
towards achieving the lofty ideas of any government.

Speaking at a two-day workshop organised for Executive Officers
(Account) in the state public service on the theme, ‘Public Sector
Accounting’, the Head of Service noted that the Public Sector Accounts
involve ascertaining the legitimacy and authenticity of government
spending and their compliance with established rules.

He charged the participants to rise to the standard to avoid having
issues with regulators and financial investigation outfits, advising
them to equip themselves with requisite knowledge and skills on public
sector accounts.

Ajayi expressed optimism that the workshop will birth very strong,
rejuvenated and motivated officers as he noted that the Dr. Kayode
Fayemi-led administration will continue to give the welfare of the
workforce the attention it deserves.

He also disclosed that a critical decision on manpower requirement of
the Civil Service has been taken as the Governor has approved
recruitment into the civil service while relevant agencies have been
informed to commence work on the approval which shall be based
strictly on merit.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Capacity Development and
Reforms, Mr. Oluwadare Ajayi noted that the state government has
identified training and retraining as a veritable tool for updating
and upgrading its staff for optimum productivity and effective service

He charged the participants to make the best use of new knowledge at
the workshop to widen their horizon.

Some of the participants commended the State government for
considering them for the training, saying it was one of the best in
the history of the Civil Service.
