NAFEST 2019: Ekiti State adjudged best in creative and innovative design.




The Ekiti State Contingents have been awarded the most creative and
innovative in design, packaging and presentation at the just concluded
National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST 2019), held between 19th
to 26th October, 2019 in Benin, Edo State.¿
Describing the award as the most important award of the festival, the
Director General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, Ambassador
Wale Ojo Lanre, noted that the whole essence of the festival was to
bring to the fore the potentials inherent in the cultural sector which
is capable of becoming the new oil of the state and by extension the
nation at large, as well as preserving its uniqueness which makes
Ekiti a state like no other for generations yet unborn.
The Director General, while commenting on the general outcome of the
festival, expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the event,
particularly the award that was bestowed on Ekiti State which
according to him was the clear manifestation of the present
administration’s commitment to promote creativity in the field of Arts
in order to ensure the continuity and progressive updating of
traditional skills to serve modern development needs and act as a
vehicle for preservation, presentation and documentation of Ekiti rich
cultural heritage.
Ojo Lanre, who dedicated the award to God Almighty, the Governor of
Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi and the
good people of Ekiti State for demonstrating high level commitment
towards revitalising the Arts and Cultural sector, urged stakeholders
to ensure that all hands are on deck in the quest to achieve this
The National Festivals of Arts and Culture, tagged “the National Unity
Forum”, with the theme of this year’s edition; “Our Royalty Our
Pride”, is an annual event which was convened on the premise of
mobilizing the people towards a practical demonstration of the
nation’s diverse cultural heritage in order to forge national unity
through cultural integration.
It is also designed with the aim of showcasing and celebrating the
creative potentials of Nigeria involving all the 36 States of the
federation, the FCT and stakeholders in the Arts and Culture as well
as provides an opportunity for a broad integration of the various
groups of the nation to meet under a cordial and harmonious
