The Executive Chairman of Ekiti State Internal Generated Revenue
Board, Mr. Olumuyiwa Ogunmilade has charged Ekiti residents to always
pay their taxes and levies as and when due.
Mr. Ogunmilade gave the charge recently at a meeting with the
Management of the Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The Chairman said that the State Government should now be looking for
ways of increasing its internally generated revenue due to the drop in
oil price in the world
He further said both States and Local Governments should be involved
in the process of paying taxes and rates for the development of the
state, adding that the State House of Assembly has passed the Internal
Generated Revenue Bill of 2018 which have been signed to law by the
Executive Governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Mr. Ogunmilade expatiated that the State Board of Internal Generated
Revenue will soon set up committees in all Local Government Areas on
how to generate more revenues from the Local Government.
He stressed on what the taxes for local government and the state can
be, adding that road users like bike riders and vehicle owners should
be ready to pay for their driving licenses and vehicles licenses as
and when due.
