In order to improve transportation system in Ogun State, government is set to introduce new monitoring and evaluation techniques in the activities of Bus Mass Transit (BMT) and Parking Management.
The Chairman, Transport Committee, Barrister Femi Adeniyi, made this known at a tripartite meeting of the Committee, the Bureau of Transportation (BOT) and the management of Bus Mass Transit (BMT), held at MITROS Garden and Suites, GRA, Ibara, Abeokuta.
Barrister Adeniyi said the Committee was enthused by the need to reposition and strengthen the transport system in the State, assuring transporters and commuters of a better and safer movement afterwards.
“This meeting is aimed at repositioning, strengthening and evaluating the activities of Bureau of Transportation and other relevant agencies under it, with a view to improving transportation system in the state. In that regard, we will review the viability and practicability of the transportation scheme inherited by this government”, he stated.
Responding, the Director of BMT, Mr. Adeyemi Edungbe implored the committee to see to the issues between the Managers of the scheme and union leaders, which had affected its expansion, assuring of synergy among stakeholders, to achieve desired transportation system in the State.
The Committee thereafter constituted a 5-man sub-committee to oversee the workings and activities of BOT and BMT for a stipulated period.
