Nigerians are capable of feeding themselves with a renewed figure, will power and determination to promote and go into farming.
This was the position of the of the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta FUNAAB, Professor Kolawole Salako at a special Lecture and Conferment of Honour Awards organized by TM News Magazine, held at Daktad Hotel, Abeokuta, Ogun state.
Professor Salako said sustainable agriculture was not just throwing on the grounds some seedlings but giving absolute concentration devotion, and a well laid out policy by policy makers.
The Vice Chancellor stated that it was impossible to have a veritable agricultural scheme where they were insecurity, poor transportation and uninterrupted power supply.
Professor Kolawole was of the opinion that modern day telecommunications could be used to promotion and advance agricultural development if only we could maximize its uses. “You can be in your office and monitor your farm and crops from any point”, he stressed.
The Vice Chancellor said that his institution was established for tripodal responsibilities of teaching, training and on growing of produce, and we are up and doing in this regards.
Other speakers at the event addressed different issues pertaining to the growth of the Nigerian Nation. The areas include among others: Security, Transportation, property.
Professor E. O. Taiwo, Vice Chancellor of POMA Business Unit who was the key Note Speaker said that with ways things were in the country it was difficult to grow enough for the country.
Prince Adebayo Apelogun, National President of ACOMORAN said that ACOMORAN have made immeasurable contributions to the growth of country but raising the IGR of the state through levies and taxes.
