Some communities across 7 local government areas in Ekiti State would
begin to heave a sigh of relief and witness improved economicc
activities as the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi will on Monday 13
January flag off four newly awarded road projects in the state.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Prof
Adio Afolayan who disclosed this during the December edition of the
Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting with the Executive
Chairmen of the sixteen local councils of the state with their
Directors of Finance and other critical stakeholders in Ado-Ekiti,
noted that the road projects will significantly improve the welfare of
the people living in the affected communities.
The roads to be flagged off include Agbado – Isinbode – Omuo Road in
Gbonyin and Ekiti East; Aramoko – Erinjiyan – Ikogosi Road in Ekiti
West; Oye – Ikun – Road in Oye, Ilejemrje and Moba local Government
Others are Ilupeju – Ire – Igbemo – Ijan Road in Oye and
Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Areas.
The Commissioner advised them to be innovative and work at boosting
the internally generated revenue of their various councils and ensure
that all loopholes to revenue loss are blocked.
He also urged the recently inaugurated council Chairmen to cooperate
with the government and be loyal to Governor Kayode Fayemi-led
administration for a rapid and sustainable socio economic development
of the state.
