Ogun State Head of Service, Tpl. (Mrs.) Amope Chokor has charge Tax Inspectors across the State to partner with the government in its revenue generation drive and block leakages to ensure increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Mrs. Chokor made this known while playing host to the Inspectors of Taxes Forum in her office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, charging them to uncover areas of revenue that were untapped by the government and minimize fraud in revenue collection.
While encouraging them to come up with strategies that would make the State revenue profile grow, she enjoined them to intensify efforts on enlightenment programmes for members of the public on importance of regular payment of taxes.
“It is when government revenue grow that we would know that you are working. You need to bring out areas of revenue that government need to tap into and block leakages”, she said.
She noted that government needed more fund to sustain the payment of the new minimum wage for workers, saying the inspectors must ensure that all revenue were remitted into appropriate coffers.
Earlier, the Chairman, Inspectors of Taxes Forum, Mrs. Mopelola Bello, said the forum would maintain discipline amongst members, continue to be loyal and be committed in the discharge of their duties towards boosting the State’s IGR.
