The annual Lisabi festival being celebrated in Egbaland has been described as the bedrock of cultural transformation, which serves as the source of hope to sustain and propagate the core values of the Yoruba race.

Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams said this at the climbing of Olumo rock at Ikija, Abeokuta, one of the events lined up to celebrate the 34th edition of the Lisabi festival in Ogun State.

Gani Adams, disclosed that the festival, which had begun over two decades, has been doing well in the area of cultural transformation and integration, with common efforts to sustain the Yoruba project, adding that, ‘’with passion and dedication, Yoruba race had been able to achieve and answer the call of history to make it the pride of all races’’.

He disclosed that ‘’the battle against insurgency is half-way won, as the Operation Amotekun is a bold step to make it a reality’’, commending Southwest Governors and legislators for their efforts to legislate its operation.

“No one has greater stake in viable and prosperous future of the Yoruba race than we. Let each of us embrace the solemn duty, commitment and dedication to the project and the time to begin is now, because when times changes, so we must change. Our culture should not be lost to civilization”, he admonished.

On his part, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo expressed gratitude to the State government and the people of Egbaland for sustaining traditions and the festival, which was aimed at promoting Yoruba culture, adding that, ‘’a person without a culture is not human’’.

The Paramount Ruler urged everyone who want peace in Nigeria to support the Amotekun initiative, describing it as a joint effort.

The Ekerin of Egbaland, Chief Oluyinka Kufile in his remark, stated that the essence of the festival was to promote the State’s cultural heritage and tradition, ensure peace and tranquillity, enjoining everyone to be united to ensure the progress of Egbaland and Nigeria at large.

Highlights of the events were offering of traditional prayers on the rock for peace and prosperity of the country and cultural displays by various groups.
