Preparation for the 10th Asaba Ladies Open Golf Tournament scheduled to tee-off from January 15th -17th, 2021 is at advanced stage.




The tournament being organised by the Ladies Division of Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Asaba, Delta State is anticipated to feature no fewer than one hundred and eighty lady golfers and men arriving from across the country.

Captain of the Ladies section, Angie Uwabor disclosed that all necessary arrangements towards successful organising the three days golf tournament have been concluded as planned.

The lady captain noted that various categories such as ladies, men’s, special guests, and sponsors would take part at the event.

She added that as at now, golfers from different golf clubs have registered for the tournament. Among them were Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS); UBTH Golf Club, Benin City; Ogunnu Golf Resort, Warri; Port-Harcourt Golf Club; IBB Golf and Country Club, Abuja; Ikoyi Golf Club, Lagos; Ibadan, Kaduna, Jos, Enugu, Calabar and amongst.

She said: “The 10th Asaba Ladies Open Golf tournament at the Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Asaba, Delta State is a very important event in the calendar of the club designed to promote unity through sports, organized by the ladies section of IGCC.

“The tournament is slated for 15th – 17th January, 2021, whereby, over 180 lady golfers and men are expected to participate while strictly applying the rules of social distancing as speculated by the government.

“The arrival and cocktail will hold on Friday, January 15th. On Saturday, the tournament will feature ladies and men’s handicap 0-28, special guests and sponsors event respectively.

“The ceremonial tee-off will commence by 8:00am on Sunday, while ladies handicap 0-28 continue their exploits. Also, special guests and sponsors will close the day golfing events just as presentation and dinner hold later in the evening from 6:00pm.

“Lots of attractive prizes and trophies are at stake for all those who distinguished themselves during the tournament. The tournament will be hitch free and well organised with Covid-19 protocols in place to ensure the safety of players and guests.”
