Call has gone to the newly elected Executive Members of the Afao-Ekiti Development Council to work for the unity and progress of the ancient community.
The Alafao of Afao-Ekiti HRM, Oba Ajibare Ademilua made this call at the inauguration of the new leadership of ADC in Afao-Ekiti.
Oba Ademilua who prayed for success and protection for all the sons and daughters of the town at home and abroad, commended past administrations in the the town for their contributions to the development of the ancient community.
The newly elected president of the Council Engr. Sesan Adesuyi assured sons and daughters of the community of robust and committed leadership.
Engr Adesuyi said he would work for a one united and progressive Afao-Ekiti and make collective interest of the entire community his priority.
“The task ahead is herculean, I plead with the entire community and my team to see this work as everyone’s work, because we all have roles to play to make the journey successful “.He pleaded.
Earlier in his valedictory address, the immediate past President of the Council, Chief Laolu Omosilade thanked the
Alafao, Alafao in- Council and the entire community for their love and support during their tenure.
Chief Omosilade who noted that paucity of fund and outbreak of the deadly Corona Virus limited their performance, highlighted some of the achievements recorded by his administration to include provision of palliative to less privileged subjects during Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, efforts on how to ensure that the International School is put to use, sitting of NSCDC office in the town as well as lightning of some streets in the town among other.
He called on the incoming Executive members to set up a constitution drafting committee to give the community an acceptable constitution as well as putting mechanism in place to ensure that the Gifted International School, Afao-Ekiti, is put into use as soon as possible.
In their remarks, Hon. Sunday Olowoyo, Hon. Babade Ige, Elder Bisi Agunbiade, pastor Simon Adewale , Col.Tunde Oluwayose, Mr Adekambi commended the outgoing Executive for their remarkable achievements and also charged the incoming ones to consolidate on the achievements recorded by the past administrations.
Other members of the new executive are Chief Solomon Ojo as Vice-President, Sunday Akinyemi Secretary, Abiodun Sunday Assistant Secretary.
Others are Wale Obelewaji as Public Relation Officer, Wale Ogunseemi Financial Secretary , Mrs Kolade Adetunji as Treasurer and Bosede Akinwande as Auditor.
