imprisonment each for violating the State environmental laws by a
Mobile Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, another set of 11
culprits had been similarly sentenced to one month imprisonment with
option of fine by the Mobile Court.
The State Environmental Task Force had arrested and arraigned the 11
offenders before the Mobile Court for indiscriminately dumping refuse
in unauthorized sites.
According to the prosecutor, Mrs. Bolaji Ogunsan, the culprits were
caught in the act at Ajilosun, Fayose Market and Owode Street along

Delivering her judgment, Magistrate Dolapo Agunloye said the culprits
were found guilty of the offence which according to her is contrary
against Ekiti State Environmental Law of 2020 and sentenced them to
one month imprisonment each with option of fine.
In her comment, the Commissioner for Environment, Barrister Iyabo
Fakunle Okieimen reiterated the commitment of the Fayemi led
administration to the general wellbeing of people, said that the State
would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring a clean, hygienic and
healthy environment adding that government is unswerving in the quest
to prevent any form of epidemic in the State.
Stressing the zero tolerance of the State Government for
indiscriminate dumping of refuse and other related vices; Mrs. Fakunle
Okieimen said that State officials accompanied by relevant security
officers would continue to enforce the State environmental laws in the
operation tagged Kick Against Bad Act in environmental sector.
She solicited the support of all stakeholders towards achieving the
desired goals and emphasized the need for the people to embrace
efforts to improve their lot.
