Nigeria’s Ambassador to Benin Republic, Kayode Oguntuase has commended
the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for formulating
people-centered policies aimed at harnessing the State’s potentials
for development.
The Envoy who spoke passionately about Fayemi’s industrialization
agenda in Ado Ekiti during his visit to the Governor’s Office on
Friday said he was convinced that the Governor had taken the right
steps by exploiting the agricultural sector to enhance industrial
Oguntuase said Fayemi’s decision to construct 1000km rural roads will
not only give the rural dwellers a sigh of relief but also help in the
transportation of raw materials for industries from the farm to the
processing centres.
He added that development can only thrive when adequate infrastructure
is put in place, adding that the Governor has fared well by trying to
link rural and urban centres with good road networks.
“Ekiti State Government is running a people-oriented policy. We know
that our state is a little bit small but in terms of performance, we
are not doing badly because proper management of available resources
that we have. I want to commend the Ekiti State government under
Govenor Fayemi’s watch. I have followed kindly development efforts of
the administration and I am happy to say that the government is doing

The Ekiti-born Nigerian ambassador commended Fayemi for recruiting
capable hands to man strategic posts in his administration, adding
that the success of any political administration depend largely on how
coordinated those who work for the government are.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Biodun Omoleye who received
the Ambassador on behalf of the Governor, thanked the envoy for his
passion for Ekiti development; adding that Governor Fayemi was
determined to drive Ekiti development and repositioned the State with
the five pillars of the administration.
Omoleye explained that the Fayemi-led administration was working on
the agricultural sector with the aim of using agriculture to drive the
economy by providing motorable roads linking both the rural and urban
centres in the State and also providing other incentives for farmers.
The Chief of Staff added that work is ongoing on the construction of a
cargo airport as well as 1000km rural road projects which are both
aimed at ensuring that Ekiti truly becomes the food basket of the
Southwest Nigeria.
He however lamented that the State would have moved at a faster pace
but for the set-back it witnessed during the immediate past
administration which stopped many people-oriented programmes which
were started between 2010 and 2014
