Ogun PDP Accuses APC Of Alleged Plan To Rig LG Elections

As rumour that the ruling APC in Ogun State is plotting to rig the local governments elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for fairness and credibility in the coming polls.

PDP alleged that Governor Dapo Abiodun was in talks with some security agencies, plotting to intimidate and molest PDP supporters during the poll.

Speaking in a Press Conference organised in Abeokuta, the state capital, the Deputy Chairman, PDP Local Government Election Organising Committee Engr. Ayinde Awobadejo alleged that the APC was determined to unleash terror and chase oppositions away from the collation centers in all the 20 LGA’s.

According to him “This they reason, would allow OGSIEC in partnership with APC the freedoms to conjure fictitious votes for all APC’s candidates and announce same in an atmosphere that would be heavily militarized.”

“We feel having to further inform you of widespread news that the APC government is prepared to unleash terror on members of the opposition all because they are hell-bent on dishing out elective post to their party men.”

On this, we appeal to you all press men and citizen of Ogun State as co-partners and stakeholders in ogun state democratic struggle, to join us in further appeal to all our security agencies to responsibly demonstrate a high sense professionalism.

Again, we implore OGSIEC to conduct this coming election in strict compliance with the laws. Results of votes cast in the election should first be made public at the polling units and then collated and announced at the ward collation centers for councillorship.

“It must not be taken out to somewhere else. We won’t take that ! likewise chairmanship election votes must be collated and announced at LG collation centers. Anything outside this shall be strongly resisted.”

“These are our humble and simple demands from the rulling government, OGSIEC and security agencies. It is our believe that if OGSIEC and indeed, the security decide to be honest and patriotic enough , these should not be too difficult to consider.”

“The excruciating memories of the novel EndSARS protest still lingers in our memory and the scars are yet visible to discerning. We hope this will not be reignited by any needless and mindless plot to allocate figures by OGSIEC in partnership with the ruling government in the forthcoming LG election. This will be too terrible a way to go, he concluded.
