LG Elections: Aggrieved 22 Political Parties Call For Dissolution of OGSIEC

The Ogun State Inter Party Advisory Council “22 Political Parties” has called for the immediate dissolution of Bar. Babatunde Osibodu led Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) for not allowing their parties to take part in the forthcoming local government elections.

The IPAC which comprises of 22 Political parties advised OGSIEC to be guided with the court of appeal judgement in Appeal No. CA/ABJ/CV/507/2020 wherein the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) was mandated by the court of Appeal to relist their parties as duly registered Political parties in Nigeria.

It would be recalled that INEC in 2020 deregistered 92 Political parties by the federal high court in Abuja.

Speaking at the press conference today, the convener of the IPAC 22 Political parties, Otunba Soluade Olufemi said it has served the OGSIEC chairman twice with a letter where the copy of the judgment in Abuja was appealed against, but rather than following the rule of law, Osibodu choose to close his eyes against it.

According to him “It is on record that the chairman of OGSIEC Bar. Tunde Osibodu was served twice with a letter from our lawyer where the full copy of the judgement was attached for ease of reference but rather than following the rule of law, Osibodu led OGSIEC choose to close their eyes against it which amounted to Executive malfeasance and rascality despite the directives handed over to them by Gov. Dapo Abiodun to be free, fair and just in the conduct of their duties.

“Ogun State IPAC 22 Political Parties hereby warn government of perennial policy and Politics of exclusion aided by arrogant, inordinate, inoculate, selfish and self-styled political war lord in person of APC chairman Mr. Yemi Sanusi to disfranchised our parties against the yet to be determined at the supreme Court Appeal judgment delivered on 10th August 2020.

“We Chairmen of the 22 Political Parties call for the immediate dissolution of Bar. Babatunde Osibodu led OGSIEC and all the other Commissioners for executive lawlessness, Political complications, fraud, gross impunity, perpetual incompetence, compromise, deliberate infractions and being card carrying members of APC and their replacement with integrity personified, intelligent, tested, cerebral and generally acceptable Chairman and new team to commence the exercise de-novo and new date be announced by the Government, he concluded.
