The President and Chairman of IBD international Hotel,Ilaro , Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun has settled the skirmish that occurred between Hausa and Yoruba indigenes at the Dangote Cement industry at Ibese Town in Ogun State
The inter-ethnics clash, happened between Okada riders and Union’s Ticketing officials around 1pm
On 2nd of August,2021, the complaints on the part of the Okada riders over the increase in the tickets turned into uncontrollable clash between the Hausa and Yoruba people in which lives and properties were lost and destroyed.
The Peace parley organised by IBD was held at the Asade Agunloye Peace Pavilion
The State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun implored residents of Ibeshe to allow peace to reign in the area and in Ogun State in general.
He also enjoined the state government to find lasting solutions to the incessant troubles of okada riders in State.
Ajogun also advised the youths to call on the security operatives so as to forestall clash between them and to also desist from taking law into their hands. The State Police boss as well, urged management of Dangote Cement present at the meeting to hearken to the demands of the people of Ibese and Yewaland.
Commissioner for Transportation, Engr.Gbenga Dairo,who represented Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun at the parley implored Hausa and Yoruba residing in Ibese to co – exist in peace and eschew tribal conflicts.
Ibese Youth leader and market leader, Aina Bangboye confirmed
That soldiers invited by the management of Dangote cement during the clash,caused the death of some indigenes of Ibese and thus prompted the anger and reprisal by the people.
He expressed his displeasure over the failure of Dangote cement to fulfill all pledges made to Ibese Town.
They said” We don’t want our educated ones to be working as sweepers at Dangote any more, give them a worth jobs
“Dangote should provide drinkable water for us, and build a befitting Palace for Ibese Town
“Apart from these, Ibese indigenes should benefit from the yearly scholarship scheme of the company”
The OGHA member, Yewa North 1, Hon Adegoke Awoso implored Dangote cement ati its management to explain where the #4bn purportedly spent on Ibese development is?
” Ibese Town and its environ with a less than a million population, you said you had spent #4bn on?how did you spend it? Come and explained to Ogun State Government”
Hon.Awoso also enjoined security operatives to clear the Dangote cement market of unscrupulous elements, adding that the factory’s fleet handlers should make such that the trailers are always in good condition.
Present at the peace parley were OGHA member,Yewa North,Hon.Haruna Egungbohun,Reps of NURTW, AMORAN, ACOMORAN and Ibese chiefs and all security arms in Ogun State.
