OGUN DEPUTY GOV. URGES GROUP ON SKILL ACQUISITION FOR WOMEN

 . The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele has urged the International Federation of Training and Development (IFTDO), Committee for Women Empowerment (CWE), to intensify effort on skill acquisition programmes to enable more women to be self-reliant.

Engr. Salako-Oyedele, who stated this in Abeokuta, while playing host to the executive members of the organisation, said women empowerment and development has become very important worldwide, as they represent a large percentage of the human population.

The Deputy Governor noted that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration has done a lot of empowerment programmes in different sectors for the youths and women for them to compete favourably with their peers and be self-sustained, assuring the association of government’s continued support.

“As you continue to engage us in Ogun State, I can assure you of our support. His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun has done a lot of empowerment programmes in different sectors for the youths and women in order for them to be able to compete favorably and self-sustained”, she said.

Engr. Salako-Oyedele commended their drive on agricultural development and other areas of human endeavor, as well as extending their programmes to youths in higher institutions.

Earlier in her presentation, the Chairman IFTDO-CWE, Africa and Asia, Mrs. Janet Jolaoso, said women have been subjected to marginalisation, domestic and sexual abuses, hence the group has empowered women in Agribusiness, trained and support farmers financially.

Jolaoso added that in 2022, the organisation intends to give a voice to women in Africa and Asia, initiate projects that could impact women enterprise through sponsorship of viable businesses, while sourcing for financial support from individuals, private and government agencies to execute the CWE projects.

Highlight of the visit was the decoration of the deputy Governor as a member of the organisation.
