SKILL ACQUISITION: OGUN ENCOURAGES ELDERLY ONES TO TAKE UP SHORT-TERM PROGRAMMES

The Ogun State Government has opened door for the elderly ones who are willing to acquire skills or upgrade themselves to register for short-term programmes at any of its Government, Science and Technical Colleges across the State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa disclosed this in Abeokuta during a chat with OGIS correspondent, saying the present administration was not paying lip service to skill acquisition of its citizens.

The Technical Education boss reiterated government’s resolve to provide enabling environment for artisans, craftsmen and technicians across the State for them to make maximum profit, adding that both young and old should be acquitted with new trend in acquiring vocational skills.

Prof. Odemuyiwa advised parents to encourage their wards to learn at least a trade in a modern way in addition to their academic certificates, in order not to be dependent on white collar jobs.
