NNPP petitions OGHA, demands reversal of Olanrewaju’s confirmation as Commissioner for Justice

The Ogun state chapter of New Nigeria Peoples Party has written a petition addressed to the state House Assembly against the confirmation of the newly appointed Commissioner for Justice, Ogungbe Olanrwwaju alleging that he does not have a certificate of the National Youth Service Corps.

The petition which was signed by the state chairman of the party, Comrade Olaposi Oginni, demanded for the immediate reversal of the clearance and confirmation of as Commissioner for Justice pending the time he is ready to provide his NYSC certificate.

It was stated in the petition that the commissioner had presented an affidavit titled “To Whom it may Concern” instead of the original NYSC certificate.

Olaposi Oginni, who urged the House to reverse the confirmation in order to affirm its integrity, argued that an affidavit of such cannot replace the mandatory NYSC discharged certificate.

The petition which was addressed to the speaker of the House, Kunle Oluomo, reads in part, “It is in our sound opinion and respect for the good people of Ogun State that the afterthought presentation of affidavit cannot perpetually stand in the gap as the Mandatory NYSC Discharged Certificate.

“Consequently and after months of waiting, we are hereby requesting for the update on the process deposed to in the affidavit to have begun or completed.

“In the event of non availability of the NYSC discharged Certificate of Mr Ogungbe Olusina Olanrewaju till date, we hereby demand for a reversal of the Clearance and Confirmation of the aforementioned Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Ogun State pending the time he is ready to present and make available the NYSC Discharged Certificate that he claimed to have according to his Affidavit to the Ogun State House of Assembly.

“Your quick action and response to this request shall be highly appreciated to clear doubt or otherwise on the status of the aforementioned and the integrity of the esteemed Ogun State House of Assembly.”

NNPP also wrote a similar petition to the Director General of NYSC, Shuaibu Ibrahim, seeking confirmation of the participation and clearance of Ogungbe Olanrwwaju in the NYSC scheme.

The petition to the NYSC DG reads, “The above named Political Party, as an active player and stakeholder in Ogun State Political and Governmental Activities, is using this medium to request for the Confirmation of Clearance for the aforementioned who claimed to have served the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a Youth Corper (Batch 2001/2002)at Lagos Island Local Government with Primary Assignment at Ebun Olu Adegboruwa Law firm from 2001 to 27th of May 2002.”
