SWAN/Security Cup’ll Foster Synergy Among Security Agencies In Ogun – OGSG

ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Government has described the ongoing SWAN/Security & Safety Cup has a way of fostering synergy and cooperation among security operatives in the state.

The Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor, AIG Olusola Subar, rtd disclosed this on Monday at the opening ceremony of the second SWAN/Security and Safety cup held at the Muda Lawal Stadium, Asero, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The elated Special Adviser commended the leadership of the Sports Writers in the state for the laudable initiative.

He said the football competition, was a unifying tool among the security agencies in the State.

AIG Olusola explained that the football competition was timely and apt in promoting unity, cooperation and synergy among security agencies in the State.

Olusola said “This is the second edition of this football competition that you (Sports Writers) are organizing. I was at the first edition too and you know there is one thing we want to promote among all our security agencies and that is cooperation and synergies.

“This (competition) is like a tool to come together, to know each other, and be able to relate together and work together and that it why I am here.

“I just want to ensure that we promote cooperation among our security agencies”.

Also speaking, the Director, Department State Security Service (DSS), Ogun State Command, Mr. Femi Aaron, lauded the initiative, urging the organizers to do more.

He said the competition would help the existing collaboration among the security agencies in the State.

He stated “Our Director – General is a sport lover and he just commissioned a sport arena in Abuja and he want all the state commands to key into.

“For the kind of work we are doing, it helps us in the collaborative effort and synergy we are building in moving Ogun State forward in terms of security. I really appreciate the organizers for doing this marvellous work”.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Immigration Service were defeated 1-nil by men of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in the opening match of the competition.

In the second fixture of MatchDay 1, the Department of State Service who are making their debut in the tournament held competition favourite Amotekun Corps to a 1-1 draw in a keenly contested affair, while defending champions, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) defeated Ogun State Fire Service 1-0 to bag their first win at the Muda Lawal Stadium Asero, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

The Nigeria Police Machines were able to curtailed the attacking threat of Nigerian Correctional Service with a 1-0 victory.

Other fixtures for today that will be played at the Muda Lawal Stadium are: Nigerian Army vs VGN, DSS vs So-Safe Corps, TRACE Corps vs Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Customs Service vs Fire Service.
