ABEOKUTA – The Central Working Committee for the 23rd Owu kingdom festival has announced dates for the installation and coronation ceremony of Oba (Prof.) Saka Adeola Matemilola as 14th Olowu of Owu Kingdom.
The Chairman, Central Working Committee, General Ekundayo Opaleye and Chairman, Coronation Committee, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, the Towulade of Akinale at a press conference in Abeokuta on Sunday said the 14th Olowu-elect would be installed and be presented with Staff of Office on Saturday, 29th October, 2022 at the Oba Odeleye Park, Ori-Omi, Totoro, Abeokuta.
The coronation committee explained that on Monday, 24th October, 2022 the Oba-elect would be crowned at the Oke-Ago-Owu palace by 7am with Youth Rally and Cultural Night taking place the same day by 1:000pm.
According to the coronation programmes made available journalists, Owu villagers would pay homage to the new monarch on Tuesday and Wednesday starting from 7am.
The committee further stressed that, there will be Youth Seminar on Thursday, 27th October, 2022 and launching of Olowu foundation at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, while there will be Golf Tournament in honour of the new monarch at Abeokuta Golf Club, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The coronation ceremony would be rounded off with a tripartite thanksgiving service for Muslim, Christian and Traditional service at Oba Odeleye Park, Ori-Omi, Toronto, Abeokuta.
