ABEOKUTA – The Deputy Governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in Ogun state, Alhaja Shakirat Arowolo has assured women in the state of equal representation if her party wins the 2023 governorship election in the state.
Alhaja Arowolo gave the assurance on Tuesday during her unveiling ceremony as the Deputy Governorship candidate of NNPP in the state.
The Alumna of Ahmadu Bello University said the era where women play second fiddle would be a thing of the past, as the party’s administration led by its governorship candidate, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo.
She said, she would facilitate an empowerment programme that would provide for the immediate needs of women.
“I want to thank you all for believing in me, I will never let you down. It is time for women to sit up. Our administration will provide empowerment for the women, our women will never sit at home again. There is going to be an inclusive all-right, we shall protect the rights of the women.”
Speaking earlier, in his welcome address, the NNPP Chairman in the state, Comrade Olaposi Oginni bemoaned the incessant insecurity in the gateway state.
Oginni lampooned the APC led administration in the state for playing kid glooves with security of life and property of the residents.
He vowed that, if elected in 2023, the NNPP government would provide adequate security for the people.
He said the party would focus on education to stem the menace of insecurity in the state.
“We have never had it so bad, the incessant insecurity in Ogun under APC government is palatable. The NNPP government come 2023 will end the insecurity and the only way to end insecurity is to improve the educational system.
“The APC is going nowhere, we will vote them out. NNPP is not the second fiddle to any party. Ogun NNPP is set to take over, we are taking over. The antidote to insecurity is quality education with vocational skill for our students.”
