Ekiti state government has again reiterated its commitment
to overall human and infrastructural development of the State.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Food Security,
Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade dropped the hint during a meeting with the
management staff of the Ministry in his office in Ado Ekiti.
Boluwade who charged all the departmental heads to bring up
new proposals and work-plans engrossed with innovations and ideas that could
move the Ministry forward,urged them to create a platform on
their inputs and outputs for good market value.
He explained that he wanted the Ministry of Agriculture and
Food Security to be a trailblazer for other ministries in the state,
stressing that they can not do the same thing the same way and get
different results.
The Special Adviser charged the staff to be prepared to receive the
officials from International Institute of Tropical Agriculture
(IITA) who would soon visit Ekiti to know how it could partner with the
State government in the development of agricultural value chain for
improved food and cash crops production.
He noted that staff of the ministry should focus on crops in which
Ekiti had comparative advantage that can boost the Internally
Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state and make the state less dependent
on allocation from the federal government.
Mr. Boluwade advised young officers not to get themselves regimented
at a particular department,adding that they should be willing to work
in any department of the ministry to widen their horizon on the job
and as well acquaint themselves with modern technology in the
agricultural world.
