ABIODUN Gov Ogun State

Ogun State Government has taken a proactive step to further ensure the safety of lives and property of the people, particularly during fire outbreak as it commissions an ultra-modern fire and safety service station in Isheri, Ifo Local Government Area.

Speaking at the inauguration of the newly built fire station, the State Governor, Prince Abiodun said the development was in line with his administration’s commitment to social well-being and welfare of the citizenry, adding that protection of the wealth and investments of the people were critical to individual and collective prosperity of the State.

Abiodun noted that the project symbolises one of the laudable achievements of his administration, noting that governance was all about making promises and fulfilling them. He added that the occasion was the first in 19 years that an ultra-modern fire and safety services station would be constructed and commissioned in the State.

In her remarks, the State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mrs. Olufemi-Ilori Oduntan appreciated the Governor for keeping his electoral promises to the people of the State, stating that the fire station was one of the four newly constructed in the last three and half years of the present administration.

The Commissioner described the station as a commitment of Governor Abiodun’s government to the provision of infrastructure, social amenities and well-being for the good people of the State.

“Since the beginning of this government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, four fire stations have been constructed in Ifo, Agbara, Isheri and Mowe. Similarly, five firefighting vehicles and equipment were also procured, while over 150 personnel were recruited to strengthen the workforce within the State fire and safety service, to ensure a more effective response to fire disasters and other emergencies”, she revealed.

In his contribution, the Director of the State Fire and Safety Service, Mr. Fatai Adefala said the construction of the fire station would speed up the response rate to fire incidence and other emergency calls, saying the four newly constructed ultra-modern stations were well-equipped with sophisticated firefighting equipment to combat fire-related disasters.
