Court orders INEC To Allow LP To Inspect Ogun National Assembly Electoral materials

Labour Party has secured a court order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to grant access to inspect electoral materials used for the conduct of APC Senatorial and federal house of representatives Elections in Ogun Central, West and Ogun East Federal Constituency.

The court in a ruling on ex-parte application ordered the electoral body to permit the Petitioners/Applicants and their Solicitors, agents, experts and other staff to inspect, photocopy, scan, pay for and obtain certified true copies of all documents used by the INEC for the conduct of the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/ Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Ogun West, and Ogun Central election held on 25th February, 2023.

Hon. Justice Samuel Aleben Ayiwulu who delivered the ruling said the order directed INEC to promptly abide by the Orders of the Tribunal made in the terms of this Ex- parte application.

According to the ruling on ex-parte application made available to our correspondent dated 13th of March by Engr. Collins Abayomi, Feyisola Olusegun Michael, Hon. Odunleye Odunjo, Rotimi George-Taylor and the state Labour Party through their counsel. Monday Mawah

The ruling on ex-parte application “AN ORDER directing the 1 Respondent to forthwith grant access to the Petitioners/Applicants and their Solicitors, agents, experts and other staff to inspect, photocopy, scan, pay for and obtain certified true copies of all documents used by the 1st respondent for the conduct of the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/ Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency Election held on 25th February, 2023 for the purpose of instituting and maintaining an Election Petition; the said documents being the ones contained in schedule attached to the supporting affidavit to this Application.”

3. AN ORDER allowing /permitting the Petitioners/Applicants

(for the purpose of instituting and maintaining an election petition) to inspect, scan, photocopy, pay for and obtain certified true copies of the electoral documents contained in the schedule attached to this application, same being the documents that are in the custody of and were used by the 1st Respondent in the conduct of the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/ Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency Election held on the 25th February, 2023.

4. AN ORDER directing the 1st Respondent to promptly abide by the Orders of this Tribunal made in the terms of this Ex- parte application.
