HoS, ACCOUNTANT-GENERAL HARP ON SELF-DEVELOPMENT FOR CAREER PROGRESSION
Officers progressing to Accountant Cadre have been admonished to embrace diligence and continuous self-development, as paramount ethos that are capable of ensuring career progression and effective job performance.
Ogun State Head of Service (Hos), Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, gave the admonition, while declaring open a two-day orientation programme, organised by the state Treasury Office, for officers progressing into the Accountant Cadre, at the Ministry of Justice Conference Room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Mr. Fagbohun, who emphasised on the importance of knowledge acquisition, said it was necessary to harness the opportunity around them to efficiently deliver, adding that taking up responsibilities and tasks would enhance their skills and performance on the job.
He enjoined participants to be abreast of all the Civil Service rules and regulations which would guide them in their conduct at work and relationships with co-workers, as well as be accountable in their dealings.
Earlier, the Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury, Mr. Babatunde Aregbesola, pointed out that the orientation programme would broaden the knowledge of the Accountants on various aspects of their profession in the Civil Service.
Mr. Aregbesola urged the officers to take full advantage of the training and invest in developing their skills, so as not to be stagnant in their position, adding that the Accounting profession had become competitive with over 620 qualified ones in the Civil Service.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mr. Akintola Oluwaseun, applauded the organiser for the initiative, promising to take full advantage of the knowledge gained.
