Officers in the Ogun State Civil Service have been admonished to be outstanding in their service delivery and unrelenting at going for further studies, to help them maximise their potentials.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, stated this in Abeokuta during a One-day In-house Training of Record Officers in the Ministry, saying officers should make quality service delivery their watchword, impact lives and contribute to the development of the state through the services rendered.
Dr. Aikulola stated that participants needed to regularly update themselves due to the evolving nature of challenges, advising officers, particularly junior ones, to defy financial challenges and study to upgrade to higher cadres in the Civil Service.
“Give a very good account of yourselves through impactful service delivery. I want you stand out by the quality of your service delivery. I also charge you to dare to move forward. Contend with your mountains. Don’t ever look down on yourself. Invest in yourself by furthering your studies despite family responsibilities”, he said.
The Permanent Secretary lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for prioritising the training of Civil Servants across all cadres and levels, noting that it was an indication of his commitment to the welfare of workers.
He explained that the programme was cascaded down in the Ministry to allow those who were not part of the training organised by the Bureau of Establishment and Training, have knowledge of current trends which could aid their service delivery.
In her lecture titled, “Handling of Official Correspondence and Confidentiality”, Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Adefunke Kehinde, said officers should not compromise their professionalism by leaking confidential details, explaining that doing so usually creates problems that could be difficult to address.
In their separate contributions, two participants, Mrs. Fausat Sodunke and Mr. Yusuf Aboaba, described the training as a refreshing experience which exposed them to new ways of carrying out their official duties.
