EACHER UNIONS FETE GOV. ABIODUN
Teachers in Ogun State have described Governor Dapo Abiodun as a highly focused, proactive and result-oriented administrator, who has the welfare of his workers at heart.
The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in the state made this known while paying a congratulatory visit to the Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Union Chairman, Mr. Noah Sewakanu, who led other members of the Executive Council to the Office of the Head of Service, expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for his unrivalled achievements in the education sector, including prompt payment of teachers’ salary, reconstruction of dilapidated school buildings, referred to as ‘Yellow Roof Revolution’, approval of promotion exercise, increase in amount allocated to schools as Running Costs, cushioning the effects of subsidy removal for teachers through payment of palliative, peculiar allowance and selling of grains at subsidised prices to all categories of workers in the state.
He presented some of the Union’s requests to the government through the Office of the Head of Service, which were, the release of global deductions to workers, payment of backlogs of eight years leave allowances and improvement on security architecture, among others, to reduce the number of out-of-school children
In the same vein, the Head Teachers-General in the state have described the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, as the right man for the job and commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his appointment.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Head Teacher-General of Yewa/Awori axis, Ven. Julius Babatunde, also appreciated the governor for their official cars, provision of infrastructure in the state’s primary schools, as well as training and re-training of teachers, among others.
He solicited for the filling of the vacant position for the Egba axis of the Head Teacher-General for adequate administration and equity in the system, while urging government to address some challenges confronting them, with the aim of making the discharge of their duties seamless.
